Glynis Quinlan is a dynamic and highly-skilled trainer and facilitator with a background in public relations, issues management, journalism and as a ministerial media advisor. She has strong written and verbal communication skills and is adept at engaging course participants, as well as in achieving solid learning outcomes.
Early in her career, Glynis spent five years working as a press secretary/media advisor for three different ministers in the NSW Government. These positions saw her gain a strong understanding of the public sector at the highest levels as well as developing her skills in managing media relations and providing policy advice to ministers on contentious issues.
Glynis also spent 14 years working as a public relations consultant/manager in the business and not-for-profit sectors. She advised managing directors and worked strategically to build up the public profiles of their organisations – normally resulting in direct benefits for their bottom lines.
At different stages throughout her career, Glynis has worked as a journalist for print and online publications, including undertaking freelance work for some of Australia’s major metropolitan newspapers. This has contributed to the strong research, interviewing and writing skills she brings to her work as a trainer.
In 2011, Glynis made the move to adult education. She spent three years lecturing/tutoring in Military Communications at the Australian Defence Force Academy and several years teaching Advanced Diplomas in Journalism and Public Relations at the Canberra Institute of Technology.
Since mid-2015, Glynis has delivered one-day and two-day courses in a wide range of government departments and agencies at locations throughout Australia.
Glynis draws from her extensive career in the public and private sectors in developing and delivering training, as well as her strong passion for helping people achieve their best.
